Mystery spinner Sunil Narine is the highest paid West Indies player in the 2020 Dream 11 Indian Premier League (ILP, collecting a whopping US$1.2 million.
This according to sports website SPORTEKZ who gave an in idea of the salaries of the players taking part in this year’s tournament in which started last month in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Narine has signed up with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) yet again and is leading their bowling attack at this year’s tournament.
The Trinidadian spin bowler recently came off a successful run at the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) where he was on the winning TKR team. He grabbed just six wickets in the tournament after missing a couple of matches including the final against the St. Lucia Zouks.
Next in line as far as earning big US dollars from the Caribbean is Jamaican all-rounder Andre Russell who is being paid US$981,400. He did not have the best of season with the Jamaica Tallawhs at the CPL.
The champion, Dwayne Bravo, comes in next with US$897,000 playing for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), last season runner-up.
Bravo recently became the first player to take 500 wickets in T20 cricket.
TKR winning captain Kieron Pollard will earn US$757,080 by playing for Mumbai Indians, who is currently at the top of the IPL table. Overall India’s captain Virat Kholi retained by the Royal Challengers is the highest paid cricketers in the IPL, collecting US$2.5 million. He is currently the leading batsman in ODI and T20 in terms of most runs over the past year.
