Trinidad and Tobago Soca star Machel Montano has won America’s Soul Train Award for Best International Performance at the star-studded event at the New Orleans Arena stage in Las Vegas, USA last week.

Montano’s win for “Ministry of Road” is the second consecutive win at the Soul Train Music Awards for soca.

Last year Bunji Garlin won the award for “Differentology.”

Montano thanked his fans and supporters and all those who voted and played a role saying “this is a triumphant moment for us, for soca and for Trinidad and Tobago! We did it again! To all those behind Ministry of the Road, I give thanks!”

Montano’s award comes weeks before his 40th birthday.

He has also received three first-round nominations for the Grammy Awards and is also nominated in four categories for the Live Music Awards in the Caribbean.

Montano is nominated for: Best International Ambassador, Best Male Artiste, Best Live Performance and Best Song of the Year for EPIC.
